St. Croix Public Beaches

I’m looking for a beach to pull up to this weekend so my daughter and her friend can play around and cool off. At this high of water level, is there much exposed sand on the islands by the Hudson narrows and is there places without too much current on the back side? I’m thinking of putting in at the Wind Mill and going up to the Hudson narrows. I know it’ll take a while at No Wake speed. I figured by the time we get going early in afternoon, Beanies will already be full.

    Thanks,

    Boone

I saw a couple of bigger boats up on some sand in beer can. There must be a little sand there

When it’s high water you will be better going just north of the swing bridge to the wisconsin side.

Should be some beaches out north of the high bridge. A favorite flood water beach of ours is just down river on the wisc side. or that would also be just north of the landing on the wisc side.

In high water it floods up into the woods down at Kinni. Plus the current ripping through that narrow delta is nasty. Maybe on the downriver side back around in the bay, but not in the normal strip.

This is where we always used to go. That or on the easter edge of the islands just downstream of the swing bridge.

Thanks for the advice. Last Saturday, July 14th, my daughter decided to go to the neighborhood pool with a friend so my son and I put it at Willie’s Harbor in St. Paul Park and ran up to the Ford dam. Had to dodge several large logs, and the current through downtown St. Paul was really ripping. We trolled some Smash Shads in 8-12 fow in some slacker water not far below the Ford dam and picked up three walleye between 17-19″ in about 30 minutes and had two more pop off on the way to the boat. So pretty good fishing for the little bit we actually fished. The Lion’s ramp in St. Paul Park was closed.

I see the water level in St. Paul has dropped nearly 3 feet since last Saturday and the flow is down a lot. The St. Croix looks to be below 683 so I assume the No Wake there has been lifted. Maybe we’ll hit the beach this weekend.
