Out of curiosity, when it’s that close – how do they enforce it?

Do they ever post signs at the boat launch etc?

Also, does anyone know how the Hudson public landing looks with the water up?

    Watch the river gauge.

    Be informed on the minute.

The instant it is below 683 I go fast. Never harassed be anyone except those silly shore owners or misinformed.

Two sheriff’s out last night. From kinni to Prescott.

It’ll go back to no wake within a day. Watch close

Can you send the link to the gauge you watch?

They do post signs at launches as well. At least there was one last week at the cove. Im sure the sign stayed in place despite temporary drop, so watching the guage makes sense.

I’ve never seen a sign at any landing during no wake times.

I think I saw one at the boomsite once a few years ago, but never since at any others

The Bluffs park had no wake signs both at the office and at the landing when it was no wake the weekend of 6/24. I camped there with the fam from Fri – Sun and they were up the whole time.

I’m sure it’s up to the city or organization maintaining the ramp to put signs out, and I’m sure it’s not done consistently. I know I’ve seen them at Hudson before as well.

Should go “no wake” at or near midnight tonight.
    FYI

Looks like Monday at noon it’ll drop below 683′ if nothing changes.

See. That’s what happens when a Mississippi River guy tries the croix… :] It hadn’t been out since early June.

Good bite tonight – launched at Beanies. Was nice to get back out there.

    Windmill Marina posts a sign.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one at the Prescott landing but then it’s on the Mississippi.

I’m amazed of all the folks that hear the Croix is No Wake and think it applies to the ‘sippi as well. Last weekend I helped a couple from Prescott launch at the back channel. In talking with them, then came down that far because it was too far to boat in no wake.

    Good bite tonight

Can I ask tactic and speed?
I’ve been doing very well 3-4.5 mph pounding sand & hard bottom with cranks. On lead.

May not stay under 683 for very long, a large area around Mora got 5″-7″ of rain this morning, widespread flash flooding up there right now and the Snake has already gone up 5′ in a couple hours.

Yep, back over 683ft as I’m ready to finally get on the river for a day. It’s a conspiracy… I”m still heading out for 1/2 day and trolling from the launch out!

Are you really catching walleyes at 4.5mph? I just assumed that was too fast.

A decade or so ago I was trolling with bottom bouncers in a small group of fishermen. My neighbor comes out and zipped around us at what I later found out was 4.5 mph. He picked up three fish around us and took off.

His thought was it was a reaction bite and had been using that for years in the summer. Worked for him.

I had good bite out there Friday trolling lead and sticks on 3 ways. 2 mph 23-27 fow.

i have always wanted to try the faster trolling but my rig will not allow that

It’s true, Hudson closes at 681. Judging by the predictions the no wake should be lifted sometime Friday afternoon/evening. It’s been a slow and go most of the summer on the Croix. Looking forward to being able to run to some summer haunts this weekend.

hope so. I have only spent about 6.5 hours out there all year.. glad I didn’t spring on the yearly launch pass this year.

FBR, how many days/nights a week are you on the Croix/P3?

I would guess I am out there 4 days/nights a week and it is RARE I don’t see you )

I’m mainly cruising from Hastings marina to St corix in a toon with the fam. But the fishing boat does see some occasional time too.
