Hey guys, can you tell me if these are worth the money? I’m hearing great things but not sure I wanna down the $$$ for a rod.

Great rods but not necessary. Avid is a great step.

I own one Legend, two Avids and six Premiers. To be frank the Premiers work just as good as the others.

The Legend X series are $450 where I’m at.

Seems pretty excessive for a price tag. But if you can afford it and want it then go for it. I’d rather get 2 rods at half the cost. But that’s my preference

That was my original thought as well, bearcat.

Watch CList around the TC for some deals. I bought 4 brand new Legend Extremes 4 years ago with tags and rod wraps still on them for $775 plus 12 bucks for shipping. At that time they were $390 each retail. Bought them from a guy in Shakopee.

I’ve always been willing to go about $150 for a rod. That used to buy the best made. But I have no problem with the current $150 rods available.

I feel the same way but will stretch up to $200 per. I’ve fished with plenty of top end rods over the years – still have a 20yr old SJR782 GLX that’s my workhorse – but the mid-market rods now are really nice plus I have other things to spend my $$ on. In the end, it’s all about personal preference and priorities. Good luck with what you decide.

I have a couple Xtremes and they are really nice rods. I wouldn’t hesitate buying another one. I’m sure the avid series are very good too. If you have the money I say go for it. I was pulled into them when I demo’d one back when Dean was still on pool 4. doah

I bet the only difference I could tell from the $130 Mojo Bass equivalent is that I’ll cry more when I break it.

Why would you keep adding higher grade rods if you felt the premiers were just as good?

I do have some legend tournament series that are a good middle ground that I really like.

If the premier’s are as good as your Legend and 2 Avids I trade you premiers for those and even throw in a extra $ as well jester

I hate the handles on the legend x and the legend elite. The legend xtreme aren’t super comfy but the sensitivity in the handle is crazy

They are very nice rods and I really like my old Legend elite spinning rod. I don’t think it would be worth the money for a casting rod. But then again I tried to get a blank to build on.

Your paying for the SCV blank, I was just looking at these as well as the elites the other day, ended up settling on the Legend tournament (SCIV blank) in a 76mlxf. Spent the saved $$ on a CI4+.

If you want something super light, check out the Phenix Feathers, a lot more budget friendly.

All my other rods are eyecons, fenwicks and triumphs. I do believe my new rod serves a specific purpose and was worth the money.

I have one of the Kistler Helium 3s MLXF that I picked up extremely impressed, not quit equivalent to the Legend Extremenes I own but above the Tournament series. When I purchased it they were on sale for $210 shipped now I see they raised the base price. If bought on sale on heck of a very nice rod. I see they rated the new ones a little different instead of MLXF now it is rated MLF, I may have to call them to see if they really made a change or just rated different.

x2 handles blow, blanks are nice…I’d design a custom with the scv blank and still save $$$

The Avid series is probably for the money, the best value.
That being said, there is a serious difference between an Avid and an Extreme or Elite. There is a big difference between the Legend Tournament and the Elite and Extreme. The Elite and Extreme are basically the same blanks. I have built numerous rods using the 7’6″ MLXF SCV blanks (Elite) and they are much more sensitive than the SCIV (Tournament) blanks. If the money is not the issue, try the Legend. The big difference in the Legend X, Elite and Extreme is the handle.
    Heck, you deserve it.
