Wondering if there are any bait shops in the area of the St. Croix Falls Park area? Also, I’m new to this area and have fished the river a couple times with little luck. Been experimenting with trolling crank baits with lead core and straight lining. Looking for any advice or suggestions. Thanks!
Yep go to St. Croix Outdoors in St. Croix Falls WI. They sell bait and gear.
I’m not sure there is enough deep water for a long enough stretch to warrant the use of lead line. Long lining cranks on braid is a good presentation in the shallower water for sure.
I used to fish the Taylors Falls area every opener 20 + years ago and had success in the spring. I also lost about 3 to 5 baits per trip! This is where I learned to love the #5 chartreuse Shad Rap deep runner.
