Anyone know where I can target some large mouth and small mouth on the st.croix by Stillwater and Hastings?

Find any lay downs or structure and pitch plastics on the downstream side of them where the structure blocks the current. They stage in those low current areas waiting for food to pass by. Also try cranks or spinnerbaits.

Look down a shoreline in a few areas you will see small bump outs. Such as little points every 50 yards. Those points carry into the water and usually the tips of them seem to hold the better smallies when the water warms. Good luck.

Hey all, I’ve got a tournament on the Croix coming up and would like some advice as where to fish for giant small and large mouths. I’ve fished the Croix a hand full of times and I love it there but I can never catch anything over 3lbs there. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Just follow Jesse Krook on Tuesday night for the St Croix Valley Walleye league. He must have caught 20 of those slimey buggers last night. -)

Just follow bzzsaw he was the guide. Bet we don’t catch none those next week.

If there’s water, a bridge ,rocks, weeds, bzzsaw or any sort of structure near by you’ll be sure to catch those pesky fish

I’m a big believer that at least for smallmouth on the rivers around here the real key is rock/rip-rap/cement pilings/boulders. In other words – hard stuff where crayfish hang out in the nooks and crannies. May seem obvious but years back I spent a bunch of time on timber, lay downs, stumps, etc and the yield was much lower…
