Anyone out there buy one or build their own?

I did a DIY with a split ring and Spro Frog and bought somebody else’s DIY on a Spro Shad Body I got on ebay. For the tail I’ve used various paddle tails, a real Teckel Sprinker Tail, and somebody’s DIY modeled after the Sprinker tail.

The real Sprinker Tails make the best sound, but at 2 to 3 Bucks a pop for a piece of plastic that pike love as much as the bass. The only time I am using my remaining 3 is during a tournament. I didn’t even catch a fish when I lost my first one. Ouch!

The lure definitely catches fish, but man do you go through tails quickly and hook up ratio is hit and miss.

    What’s ya’ll experience with them?

I was planning to buy some too but haven’t pulled the trigger. Heard from a few guys that said you get huge blowups but very low hookup percentage. But if the bite is around weeds they are a good option to try.
