Anyone else following the NWT in Spring Valley? I see a couple MN guys are top of the pack after day one. Hoyer leading with 12 pounds, 15 ounces. Courts about a pound behind him. Sure seems like the battle of the small fish over there but still a interesting contest. And those boats. Dang are those things powered and decked out. Live weigh in is at 330 again today.

I can’t imagine having a $200K rig with all the latest and greatest and putting up one 12”er. That would sting. Looking at you Max Wilson.

I’m just not getting what part of that day was a disappointment. Running around all day in that boat with all the best equipment on the market. Doesn’t sound like a bad day to me.

I follow it on Facebook. There is a link there to the live weigh in.

Sounds like it’s a trolling bite-Hoyer, Courts, and Bashore. They are mostly targeting prespawn Saugers, but Hoyer found a 5 pound prespawn Walleye. Courts said he had a mix of Saugers and Walleyes.

I haven’t even looked Jon. Is it still full feild for 2 days then the top guys after that? Do the COs fish third day?

Not sure? I was just looking at the leader board that has 3 days listed. Looking at the rules, this one must be a 2 day event? Just don’t follow tourneys like I used to !

Qualifying events will have (2) scheduled competition days with full field fishing both days. Pros and co-anglers fish together
for a combined daily boat weight and each will carry that weight forward. Winners determined by heaviest cumulative
    weight for all days fished.

The championship event will be a three-day event with the full field of pros and co-anglers fishing the first two days and
the final 10 pros and co-anglers fishing the final day. Winners determined by heaviest cumulative weight for all days
fished. A blow day on either of the first two days will be lost. The top 10 will fish the final day of the championship if it is at all
possible and safe, even if the waters have to be altered or restricted.

This is just a 2 day. The leader board was still set on the championship from last year yesterday.

I wish they would offer a better level of coverage. H2H Fishing live coverage was fantastic. I know it was expensive and probably why that circuit ended, but I was very entertaining. OFM used to have about a dozen interviews each morning and even NWT used to do a dozen or so. Today NWT uploaded 2 interviews total and OFM is not there. I know the guys don’t say much after the first day, but it gives them a chance to share some knowledge and potentially promote sponsors.

I see Hoyer comments on having three microphones on him and a camera in the boat. Where does all this go? Yes better coverage would be great.

All NWT events are 2 days except for the championship. That tourney is 3 days. According to their website.

Yesterday Hoyer said one mic was for the NWT footage and the other mic was for a company documenting / promotional video. I am sure he will put it on social media when it is available.

Agree we need more coverage, one would think in the Midwest the Walleye circuts could get some love instead of the mighty Bass guys. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy watching MLF, just would be nice to have some options for eyes too.

The walleye tourney circuits just aren’t what they used to be. Spring Valley is the longest running tourney on the MWC Circuit. It used to draw a max field of 225 teams. There was a waiting list in case of a cancelation. Aonly around 95 boats this year. A few years ago the field was around 65 teams. Most teams now only fish 3 to 5 tournaments. They just want to qualify for the championship.
SV used to be pretty much a jig bite depending on spring river levels. Now anything goes.

I do not know but they sure do not know how to post on social media, I asked where they posted the results and got a BS answer. How hard is it to post results on FB?

So what happened to Hoyer on day 2?

All I see is Hoyer weighed 8#s on day 2 but got a zero for weight that day.

There is a leader board on the NWT website.

Winner only had 3 of the 5 allowed fish limit is impressive. Considering everyone else in the top 10 weighed 5 fish each on the 2nd day.

saw an interview with the winner, JJ DeBernardi, a local, and he said he caught an 8 pound walleye on his first cast wednesday hitting a nearby known spot while waiting to lock through at starved rock.
was a good article on day 1 on the nwt site but havent seen anything about day 2

Tournament coverage has stunk IMO since the NWT started. FLW coverage I thought was great. I get it, this industry is different than it was. but I worry for its future.

H2H was probably expensive to put together i’m sure but it was also horribly run.
