When you are checking things over and greasing your bearings don’t forget about the brakes. Make sure and pull the caliper pins and lube them up as well each year. I bought a trailer that looks like no maintinance was ever done to it, the brake pins have grooves worn into them.

i’m going to re-pack my bearings very soon. What kind of lube do you recommend for the pins?

CRC Silaramic Brake System Grease is what I use.

My picture didn’t show up….I use Sil-glide from Napa. I’ll try taking it again tomorrow, pretty crazy seeing grooves in the pins that sit in a rubber bushing….this caused the calipers to sag enough that the pads were rubbing on the hub.

Meh, who needs weight in the front of the vehicle, or rear suspension.

You can see how some of the pins have some pretty deep grooves.

Do you LockTite when reinstalling the caliper pins?

the new pins came with patchloc on them but yes, you should use loctite when putting them back together.
