Good to hear! WI counts were up about 17% overall with some areas better than others. The grouse cycle tends to go west to east, so hopefully things are looking up for a few years.

I did mention while we were at Kab that it seemed like there was more than I normally remember hearing. Made for a fun game with our son, have him listen for ‘grandpa’s tractor’ (2 cylinder John deere).

That is good to hear. The past few years have been decent for us (at least huntable numbers) so this year should continue the trend.

Thats a Friend of mine, he has had this grouse following him and his wife since spring.
Wait till this fall when we tell the unsuspecting little fella to put both his wings up in the air. whistling

This is good, might have to pull out the ol Remington this year and blow the dust off it. I remember years ago during a down cycle spending a couple unsuccessful days walking the woods. Got up one morning and a grouse comes walking out from under the the deck of the cabin. If I wasn’t staying at a resort I mighta stepped back in and grabbed my shotgun. grin

I went for a bird walk with my dog yesterday someplace I expected to see birds and saw nothing. NW sconny.

Sweet – I was planning on getting back into Grouse hunting this year. First time in 30+ years. Last time I was out (in high school) my buddy shot me. Still have the bird shot in my legs. It’s always fun to see the expression on the x-ray tech’s face whenever I needed an x-ray later on in life.
