Spring Birds

Our neighbor invited us to join his group at a game farm Saturday, and after a tough winter, I was happy to get after some birds. The weather was nasty with some harsh winds, but we had fun. We had 9 hunters, 5 dogs, and we shot 27 birds, which is what we had them put out.

It’s a little frustrating hunting a pointer with 4 labs, but Ripley still did fine, had fun, and came home tired.

If anyone is looking for a hunt, Sand Pines near St. Cloud still has a lot of birds available. They put out all roosters for us.

On a related note, I’ve had my eye on a Beretta A300 for a while now, and Fleet Farm put it on sale this week. I used it Saturday, and I really like it!

Nicely done! Been a long winter and bet that felt good to chase dogs around chasing birds around.

Looks like fun! Billy and I might have to check them out for another place to hunt. We’ve been to a couple game farms north of the Twin Cities, but I don’t recall which ones. I’ll have to check my scrapbook. )

Nice! Sand Pine is a great (and reasonable) game farm! Did you stop at SJU for some Johnnie bread and reminiscing? Or Sal’s for a couple? toast

No and no. We were already later than we told the sitter. We did stop and grab a few crowlers from Bad Habit, though. waytogo

Those pen raise birds are so dumb. Sometimes you have to kick them to get up. I’ve had them literally fly right into a tree and kill themselves.

No poop. Thanks for your worthless opinion. I don’t claim that it’s real hunting, but October is a long ways off.

    Who pissed in your Cheerios?

Edit: Thanks for changing your post after I repsonded.

Looked like a good time Ralph!

BTW I’ve had a wild rooster jump up, hit a tree and stunned himself. Woke up with in inches of my hand and flew off. Of course I leaned my gun on the tree. doah

Most times there is no difference. They flush, fly and you shoot. Looks exactly the same in Iowa.
