I’ll be in northwest Iowa visting family the last weekend of July. I’m out of the loop with the fishing there these days. I’d love to pull away and try my odds on Big Spirit for a ski. Is there a good population? Is there much fishing pressure on those fish? I am assumming they are scattered throughout the vast weed-growth enjoying the abundant forage. Any info on the status of the fishery or hot methods is appreciated.
To be fair I will disclose I was close by on Fox Lake recently. There are muskies indeed, they are not heavily pressured, but still reluctant to totally commit when biting. I did not learn enough about locations, but they did strongly perfer bucktails over cranks and topwaters.
Please release them alive and fiesty!
