Spirit lake 10-2

I got out and enjoyed a beautiful day on the lake with out much success. Was able to catch only five perch and five small walleyes. Drifting jigging spoons with a dropper and waxes was the only way I got bites. Lots of bites not a good hook ratio. What made the trip was talking with the DNR fisheries at the landing. They were doing surveys and ask me how full the box was. This hurt the pride. They said the lake is full of nice perch and walleyes that are 10-12 inches. Everywhere the test was good. 1-50 walleyes they caught had a yoy perch in its mouth. Ice fishing can’t get here fast enough. The cycle up has started and this should be a top destination.

Thanks for the heads up, I hope to get down there this winter, where are the best places to target the perch and sunnies out there in the winter?

My top perch producers are buffalo run, marble beach, the old foot bridge, and big stoney point. Gills are going to come from the grade or anglers bay. Don’t sleep on West Okoboji either. Last year the perch were on fire out there!

Thanks so much for the information, my buddies in-laws have a cabin on spirit. I hope to get down there some.

have been seeing some pic’s from Kabeles Trading Post Bait shop from West, been a while since there’s been something to talk about there. Been 5-6 years since Spirit was going good. Nice to hear, going to need to make a run or two, it’s either there or SoDak for me this winter.
