Most of my spinning rods are 7′ ML to Med. action, they work great for small tubes, wacky worms up to 3/8 oz. spinnerbaits and swim jigs. You’re not going to be horsing a pig out of thick cover, but with the right rod you can cover a wide variety of different techniques. The rods I have are Fenwick, Lews, Wright and Mcgill, most are around that $100 mark.
I like to run the tip of the rod across the floor or carpeting in the store. Gives you a feel of the sensitivity of the rod. That’s what I’m looking for most in spinning rods. As others have said 6’6 to 7′ medium is what I use.
