Spinning Reel Line Help

Seen a braid/Fluoro post yesterday and got me thinking. I recently started fishing lighter line and more spinning reel applications for pannies (mainly crappies in wood). This is a bit new to me and last year trying Fluorocarbon in the 4 or 6 pound test range I ended up with major line twists.
I googled how to spool Fluoro on spinning reels and different things and I seem to be doing it right. Am I missing something?

I personally think this is an application where mono is best. Had a buddy try spooling floro on his bobber rod and it being tough to manage.

I’ve never had luck with fluoro as a mainline. Fluoro keeps too much memory and gets nicked up too easily. Why did you make the switch? I like regular old mono for panfish rods.

Great Question…. I just started doing more panfishing (not using mono in a long time) coming from doing ALOT of bassfishing. That being said, I mainly use baitcasting equipment or my spinning reels have braid with Fluoro leader attached with baits heavier than crappie jigs.
I was going to try braid/flouro (light line) for the crappies but figured the Alberto knot (although small) wouldnt cast with small crappie jigs.

I use nothing but mostly 4lb mono and found the suffix brand seems to be the best, trilene xl is second best my opinion. Uni knot is what I use.

Braid to flouro. Or just braid depending on what it is. I used to use the flat braids for panfish quite a bit, you can get lower diameter to weight on those. 1 lb dia braid doesn’t take much to lose its strength.

I use this braid in darker water sometimes w/o a leader, crappies do not seem too line shy.

6 and 8lb seaguar tatsu is the only floro ive used without problems on a spinning real. Ive thrown all the rest of it in the trash shortly after spooling. Spendy but it works

When do you think Trilene XL first came out? I think it was about 1985 when I first tried it and fell in love with it. It’s been a main staple ever since.
