Spinner search baits

Looking for thoughts and experiences with people that have used lures like the Kaylins tungsten google eye search bait and the walleye nations death rig. Like the idea of being able to throw a bait with a crawler and retrieve like a trolling crawler harness but read that they tend to get tangled up quite often with cast and retrieve. Looking forward to hearing what people had to say.

Search bait is fantastic. Have to cast it more like you would a bobber and just push the crawler past the barrel swivel while rigging it and you shouldn’t have any problems.

I could not cast the WNC to save my life. I think it’s just too long or maybe it’s just a me issue but it’s since been removed from the tackle box as the Kalins was superior for me.

X2. I’ve had good luck trolling with them, but casting them is tricky to say the least. I have both and 24seven is right. WNC’s are half the price (Kailin’s are tungsten) but I think the way they tie on the slow death hook causes problems with twisting up.

I just use an underspin jig or a spinner jig and crawler.

There is a brand on Amazon called DoveSun that work pretty well and have a decent shank on them for a crawler.

I don’t think it’s so much the spinner, but the slow death style spinning hook that set’s these apart from a spinner jig.

I agree on the hook part, Joe. I have thrown whistler jigs with eye candy crawlers with some success. I also tried that setup with add on stinger hooks for longer plastics or real crawlers, but not as effective.

Gotcha. Why not just get a few beads and a spinner and tie on a slow death hook? Maybe there wouldn’t be enough weight to cast?

I’ve tried them and don’t care for them . Tangle too much when you cast them for me . Same when you try to troll them if you don’t drop it slowly .
