The Walser Bass Tour is a new Twin Cities team circuit aimed at leveraging the camaraderie and learning experience that BASS clubs enjoy while using 100% of the fees for tournament payouts. We currently have 7 teams committed for 2011 and are looking for 3 more to complete our field. Schedule of lakes for this year:
    6/5 – Coon Lake
    6/26 – Lake Minnetonka
    7/10 – Medicine Lake
    7/24 – Lake Waconia
    8/14 – Prior Lake
9/17 – 9/18 TOC – Farm Island Lake (Aitkin County)
(All tourneys are 8 hours long)

$300 Annual Tournament Entry per team, due by May 1st (entry is $35/ regular season tourney, $40 for TOC, and $15 team membership dues for Team Champions and Big Bass pot per tourney)

    About the Walser Bass Tour
From the organizers’ past experiences, a couple shortcomings each group presented:
    1) Clubs don’t seem to have a proportionate amount of money coming back into the pockets of the competitors; dues typically goes towards winners’ plaques that gets buried in a closet or the spouse wont let you hang up. Most clubs are individual competitions, not team format.
    2) Local money circuits can be disorganized, overly formal, knowledge sharing is v-e-r-y limited, and lakes are limited due to tournament field sizes. Who likes fishing the same lakes each weekend, each year, against the same fisherman in the same spots?

Our goal is to ensure 100% payout of fees and maintain the enjoyment of club sportsmanship and knowledge sharing. How does the Walser Bass Tour aim to do this?
–Keeping the team membership to no more than 10 teams; fewer boats mean broader lake selection
–Lakes are selected across the Twin Cities to encourage broad participation
–Formalized rules, standard kickoff meeting, timely communication before and after tournaments – including results being posted on a website
–100% payout of entry fees, optional big bass pot for each tourney
–Scale, tourney board and weigh scales provided by Walser Automotive to make for a professionally ran tournament
–Tournament point system resulting in Team of the Year trophy and monetary award
–Open forum following each tournament to share what worked for the day by each team
–End of year “Tournament of Champions” – 2-day weekend tournament, lodging organized to have group all together

If you are interested in applying, contact Jeremie Larson by email ([email protected]) or PM me, we will be able to provide more details. Website should be up shortly that has rules and payouts posted as well. Your request will go through a short screening process to ensure we have the right fit of people.

Email us asap, we’re anxious to have you join!

The inaugural WBT kickoff meeting was held on Friday, April 29th. Most teams were in attendance and got a chance to introduce themselves and favorite techniques. Blast-off positions for June 5th tourney on Coon Lake were pulled, however due to looking to have 4 more teams joined, positions 3, 9, 11, 12 are still open leading up to the 1st tournament.

Yes – we are still looking for prospective members looking to join! At $35 per tourney which includes big bass pot, 100% payout, and high gas prices, the WBT is easy on your pocketbook and still awards its competitors.

If you are interested, please check out our website at http://wbt.fiveand1.net/. As evidenced on the site, we are intent to make this is a fun and exciting learning experience for all levels of bass anglers!
