quick little blurb about lake fork live magic shad swimbait… got some a few years back(goody bag) and was un impressed. rolled to the side, wasn’t crazy about it, but when you hit it right, a great swimming action… this fall, matched up 4.5″ bait with 4/0 WEIGHTED twistlock owner hook… Bingo! bait ran straight, great action… ordered some cool colors… broke it out last fall up to St Lawerence river (columbus day…) caught dozens of bass on it just winding it through deeper weeds slowly.. Really killed them. bass were getting hooked no problem. was using a 7ft med action 12#test. basic stuff. cool part was caught fish like crazy for 2 days, only used 3 baits! very durable! casts great too. very weedless. a week later, in real cold water, under 50, muddy high water. had a tough tourney day… only 3 chips in the boat, made a desperation run to a clear back water, 4 bass in the last 10 minutes, with even more hits. my bud was amazed! he tried them with a weightless hook, got nothing, kinda rolled over. my weighted hook really made the difference. If your gonna try them, I’d go with Owner 4/0 weighted twistlock hooks, try the light hook model and the beast model too. depending on your situation. I myself like the twistlock center pin deal, makes rigging the bait easier than the plain springs…
I am very excited about these baits in the coming year, and yes I have a giant box downstairs of the special junebug color I was using…
hope this info helps somebody out…

The weighted twistlock hook really made the difference. I also got the weighted Beast twistlock which is a pretty stout hook, I’m thinking the bait may work even better. The weighted “light” twistlock in 4/0 is another option if you don’t want the heavy tackle. I’d say the tilapia color be a good northern color choice. they also have some sort of perch color, but I got so many, I’d never get anymore…
Durable… caught a ton on just one bait…
So I was drinking beer at the bowling alley last night… this lure rigged through the flat side texas rigged with a big sinker might be a good jigging lure. kinda like that $12.00 lateral perch thing… HMMM….
