New Lures to try out? Wondering what everyone is looking at or has purchased to try this year?

Last July at the ICAST show in Vegas, Koppers got the top award for the Best Soft Lure for their hollow bodied frogs. Curiosity got the best of me after hearing all the talk about them. So, I had to add a couple to my collection. I’ve been a die-hard for Spro’s, until this last fall. (which I sold all my Spro’s this winter on ebay)

I got them a little late in the year, so the slop bite was really coming to an end when I tried them out. The realistically color job on them is over-the-top compared to other frogs. But the biggest thing you notice immediately is how soft they are. They collapse so much easier than any other frog I have ever tossed. I had 6 blow ups and connected on 4 of them. All four had the double wide gap hooks burried in the roof of the mouth, so I was very pleased with the hook up ratio and hook sets.

I noticed while working at the Bass Pro this last weekend, they finally had them in stock. They cost about $.80 more than a spro, but I think with better hook sets, its worth the extra change and a bottle of super glue.

You seen those lure that look like a cross between a lipless and a crankbait? I can’t find them anywhere Googling, but I stumbled across them before.

I am definitely trying Neko Rigging this year.

I suppose I’ll have to add KVD’s new crankbait to my aresenal even though I don’t really fish the types of areas that bait excels in.

Deep water spoons, where I would normally use a deep diving crankbait.

I-motion lure. Sounds as stupid as a Senko did so I’ll give it a try.

Gulp waxies for sunfish are on my radar. Other than that I have plenty of baits that never get used.

So, it’s a lipless crankbait, with a lip???

Or a hard swim bait like the Sebile Majic Swimmer?

Try TackleWarehouse, they have most new stuff…

I am beginning to wonder if I dreamed it.

Those are all close. I believe the body was segmented and it had a lip, however the eyelet was not on the bill, but on the head of the lure, if that makes sense.

I’m going to try two different directions.
One, actually force myself to use and catch something on a number of the baits that I have bought already, and never even used. That will take a good amount of time and effort alone.
Two, I have some really old hard baits that found in old box that my father must have had forty plus years ago, going to clean a couple up, and go toss them around.
All this said… sure I’ll add a few new baits that I can store until next season and make the same effort all over again. I’ll try to avoid Dean’s hot bait suggestions for my annual trip to pool 4, but already know I always fail at that…. guess I have a problem.

There is a couple small billed swim baits I need to give a shot this year. Black Dog 4″ mini & BPS Mini – Z9R. Who says they are only going to catch Bass. Can you say bonus fish.

In any event, Neko Rigging is on the list. I should probably stock up on the components.

For me I’m going back a few steps… gonna try to use the 10″ worms and 4″ ringworms. Owner uki bug was good one day last fall… caught 5 bass on one bait, hardly scratched up… Also gonna throw lake fork swimbait. matched up with owner weighted twistocks… really like the action. caught a ton on them late last year.
Gonna pick up new owner twistlock flippin hook… will solve alot of problems!!!
Bandit footloose last fall caught some, like the action and the price!
will also spend alot of time watching ice and snow melt…

I’m going to get serious about dropshot and swimbaits. It could be awhile if winter keeps going like this.

just got my box from landbigfish yesterday. new Owner flippin twistlocks are real nice. Also got a Bandit deep flatmax crankbait. real neat flat crankbait. I’m leaning towards bandit cranks more, like the color selection! good price too. rest of the stuff was restock stuff. after 18’s of snow yesterday for work, It was nice to see the box!

I ordered a pack of the baby bass along with some other stuff from tacklewarehouse. I can’t wait to try them out, and as soon as they get the perch color in stock, I might order some of those too!
