I am buying a new crankbait rod this year…looking at the St Croix LTB Big Cranker, Dobyns 764CB or a KVD 7’4″ Med Crank…
Also thinking about a longer Med action Spin Rod for Tubes, Senkos and open water finesse jig/plastic…my L/ML dropshot actions dont have the poop to get the big bass away from shale rocks, timber etc…
    How about everyone else?

    YA

I picked up a new one at Bass Pro

A Dawia Accudepth Pro, model D 701M, Bass Pro only place I have seen these.

I have seen the regular ones but not the pro series

It was the shortest one piece leadcore they had.

Rod is five foot with a two foot handle.

This one looks like it should do the trick

Can not wait to try it out, to run between my two 8’6″ ones

I just bought a RazrRod at the Omaha Sport Show – I bought a jigging rod for walleyes but most of their rods are geared towards bass fishing. Might wanna give them a look. Come with a lifetime warranty.

For big, deep cranks, going to try either:

-The KVD Tour 7’10” MH Moderate or

-The Bass Pro Shops Crankin’ Stick 7’10” MH Fast or

-The St.Croix Mojo Bass Glass – Big Crankster 7’8″ MH Moderate

I have the St. Croix Tournament Magnum Cranker rod, which I like, especially in weedy areas but it’s not your prototypical crankbait action, a bit fast.

I’ve never tried leadcore for bass…let me know how it goes!

I caught many a bass tubing with “The Tube”…Thats another rod that is a tad more parabolic than most MF St. Croix actions. A good worm rod too!

I picked up 5 new All Stars on ebay this winter 3 platinums(2 7ft med, 1 6-8 med heavy) and 1 classic popping rod(7-6 hvy action) and a SJ2 jigging rod. Took the SJ2 and the popping rod to my rod guy and he put a new set of alcinite guides on them. guides on them just didn’t look right… WOW! sweet rods now! The 7-6 popping rod will be for swimbaits and just plain old big bass catchin’!!
I probably didn’t need 5 new rods but beer and ebay are a rough combo… great deals too.
now just gotta switch some reels around. was gonna get a few new reels but got enough. gonna get the 4:10 lightning rear end for the Harley tommorrow!
Tom, I would think a Glass St croix cranking rod 7 ft, be perfect. I got 3 glass crankers and throw cranks spinnerbaits buzzbaits and traps with them. catching fish with these is a blast!

I sought opinions from two of the best Bass guides I know that throw a lot of shallow cranks, jerkbaits etc… They both recommended the 7′ LTB St. Croix big cranker…they also agreed with Otto for the LTB 7’10″Magnum Cranker for the big deep cranks. I seldom use them, but I have a 7’6″ Heavy/Mod Flippin/Carolina stick that will handle the big deep ones.

Tom, I use the LTB Big Cranker and love it. It’s got just the right flex for both launching cranks and fighting the fish. Exquisite crankbait rod in my opinion!

2011 will be the third production year for the Mojo series and they are very nice Bass rods for $100 price point.
Loving them before fishing them is REAL affection!

    Well so far from Ebay:
St. Croix Avid 7′ Heavy- Going to use it mostly for Craw Tubes.

St. Croix LTB 7’3″ Carolina Rig- I’m going to try it as a frog rod as it has the same specs of the Avid’s I use for frogs. Now that I have it in hand it seems to have a significantly lighter action to it than the Avids, but I haven’t compared them head to head.

Shimano Crucial Crankbait 7’MH- This one was a bit of mistake. I didn’t realize it was a crankbait rod until I got it. I had planned for it to be the craw tube rod, but that isn’t going to work, so it’s gonna be a topwater/crankbait rod.

I would have had a really good deal on GLoomis Bronzeback 6’3″ Jerkbait rod, but unfortunately the seller put a reserve price on that didn’t get met and to this point it hasn’t been re-listed.

Just ordered a couple Phenix Super Flippers. May pick up a St Croix…i’m curious about some of their new rods, and need a new spinnerbait rod.

After over a decade of using nothing but Loomis…their updated “warranty” policy pi$$es me off to no end, and won’t buy another until they change back. There’s too many other good rod companines that offer unlimited, lifetime warranties…should you happen to break one.

New Dobyns Champion Extreme 7’4″ Heavy pitching rod, and a 6’8″ Dobyns cranking rod, for jerkbaits and topwater.

I love the Dobyns rods, best balanced rods I’ve ever used.

Those are nice rods. I think I’ll turn my Kistler HE LTA into a Dobyns 703 next year. I did too much damage already this year.

Just landed another rod off Ebay

St.Croix Avid 6’2″X-Fast Medium. I am a little concerned about handle length as it is their smallest size. I’m hoping it will be a good jerkbait stick.
