Watched the first day of Classic coverage yesterday and was really dissapointed at how little footage of anglers fishing there was. I really don’t need to watch Zona and his side kick talk about the fishing in the studio, I want to see the anglers apply their skills, and not just the catching fish shots, i like to watch them cast and work their lures. See how different they are from me…

Anyway, I decided I would time how much footatge there was on day two as I watched it today…it was much better today, of course they had two hours so they had to show some footage…

So, I figure the number of minutes of actual fishing I timed is probably accurate to +/- two minutes.

Have a guess at how many minutes in a 2 hour show is fishing footage? Post your guess then look below for the answer…

The number of minutes I timed is shown below in between the letters kv and d.

Probably 45 seconds fishing to 2.5 minutes jaw flapping. And its not really fishing, set hook, swing fish. Kind of fun to watch in the middle of the winter though.

Absolute horsehockey is what the coverage of the Classic is. This event deserves so much more. They’re trying to make the coverage to the non-fishing person by showing yellers and boats driving fast. The problem with that theory is this: non-fishing types are going to be watching in the first place. And now ESPN is getting out of BASS becuase they weren’t getting viewers. Well, they alienated fishermen from watching the shows, and got exactly what they produced: a show that no one will watch.

Watching day 2 seems a bit better than day 1. Typical Bassmaster coverage, typical bassmaster shows do not show anglers every cast. I am good with 5 hours of coverage and I am sure once the field narrows down we will see a lot more fishing for day 3.

I am actually really enjoying the day 2 show.

I agree, day two wasn’t too bad (the intro was awful though, how many times did we get to see Ike screaming, 8, 10 times in 10 minutes?), I give it a C+. Day 1 SUCKED: D.

the montage of screaming to start day 2 coverage was pretty ridicious. do you guys remember the old flw’s that showed mostly on the water coverage. that was cool.

Agreed on intro, way overkill, considering the guys are so close they are whispering.

I’m not a big fan of the elite series, BASS, or fishing shows in general. I am a tourney guy though and I do like to watch weigh ins. the online coverage they offered live last week was real good. I watch every one I can.
Tom, sorry about the drunken email and PM. USPS had me in rough shape after the storm…
