Anybody have any ideas on where to ice some smallies? I do a good amount of ice fishing but have never caught one on ice. Dont know where to start as far as technique or location, any help appreciated. -TcCat

Look at steep breaking rock structures fairly deep, 20-30′ range. They can be caught pretty consistent. My best luck is usually with set lines, they seem to chase a jigging spoon but usually will then hit the set line. Goodluck!

    Rivers or lakes??

I live in the lower pool 7 upper pool 8 area and you got me thinking where they hang out under the ice.

If your willing to fish on a small river system and are willing to take a semi-long walk I’ve got a few places that should be holding some BIG smallies…

    lets go
