What a sad day, I managed to kick my Powell 735 frog rod over the side of the boat this morning. I had an shimano curado E7 on it and absolutely loved that rod. I some how kicked it when I turned around to go start the motor. It hit the side and ploop down she went. I was in 8′ of water with a butt load of current. I went for a quick swim but I knew it I wasn’t going to find it. It just ruined my day so now I’m home pouting like a little girl . Dan

go back out with a big daredevil and comb the area downstream from where it went in, you might just find it.

Try a big, weighted snagging treble hook. I lost one of mine over the side in main channel current 15 ft deep. Went back the next morning and jigged it up on the second slip downstream from where I had been casting. Don’t give up yet.

Doing what Doc said worked for me. Tossed a rod in the river 5 years ago, 15min of work with daredevils and we had it back.

Where were you ? I’ll go look for it for you.LOL

As others have said, don’t give up. We lost a GLoomis in twenty feet in the back channel and got it back.

Suck it up. You have to donate one to the river gods every now and again to keep them happy.

I’d go back and look if I were you! I lost an ice rod in 30+ feet on LOTW last winter and used a blade bait to get it back in about 5 minutes!

Thanks for the ideas, Bucketmouth and I are going back to the spot tomorrow to try to dredge it up. got 2 poles rigged with big trebles and slip sinkers. I know right where it happened so hopefully we can get it back. If you hear a big whooop around Glen Haven it was just me . Wish me luck , Dan

Dude, a $500 rig like that is work a substantial amount of recovery effort. Just think about it in terms of dollars per hour. If you spend 50 hours trying to get it back you’ve still made $10/hour over having to buy a new one.

Buying a good underwater camera would be cheaper than replacing the rod and reel now that I think about it.

    Nice idea!

I find a few muskie rods – every fall when I go scuba diving in the stink pond – metro lakes.

Don the fins and mask -give her a go!
