Go early before the pleasure boaters/jet skiers take over. Have fun!

I think the best place to find rough fish would be the river.

Lots of techniques are dynamite now as fish moved into their summer homes. With kids I would focus on outside of sumberged weedlines, points and turns, will most likely be easiest to fish. This way the experienced can cast if they would like to up on top of the weeds with a spinner bait/swimbait and less experienced can drag a plastic worm or even a bobber with a nice crawler on it.

Stay away from marion. There is a 40 boat tourney there on Sat. The bass fishing there is real bad right now as well – At least for me the last 3 times out and that includes last night. The bass fishing on Prior can be real good at times. lots of deep weed edges to fish. A good starting spot is the weedline right out in front of sand point beach. O’dowd can also be a great lake for bass. Lots of islands with good cover around them. Good luck and have fun!!!

Zumbra, Waconia, Pearson and Prior can all be good. They are in their summer hideouts now when the sun is up. Early and late in the day you can get them shallow but the big ones are deeper.
