Thanks to some great advice on my other thread, I’ve finally purchased some bass fishing reels and rods. I was wondering what the consensus would be for line on these though…. There were a number of recommendations for the Quantum Accurist PT reels. Since I found a really good deal on the Catalist, I went with these instead (hopefully that was a good choice…). What do you guys run for line on bass fishing setups? Since I seem to be locked in with a spinning setup pretty well for fishing tube jigs, I’m guessing my two new rigs would be used for throwing spinner / buzz baits, and fishing jigs and weighted worms.

For the topwater applications I would use 50-60# braid.

For Jig/Worming 14-20lb Mono or Flourocarbon depending on the application/location and rod.

For topwater I still like Mono. Topwater and Crankbaiting is the only applications I still use Momo for. I like the stretch factor of Mono. It keeps me from jerking the bait await from fish when they hit either topwater or cranks. For the worm and Jig fishing I’d go with Fluro. Line size with depend on the cover you are planning to fish around. I’d say 12-14 Lb. test would be a good choice for most situations. With Fluro you can get away with slightly larger line size due to the invisible nature of it. Let us know what you choose and how it all works out for you.

Depends wut you mean by topwater…if its frogs id go with 50-65# braid but for open water topwater fishing 30-40# braid would be plenty. For jigs and worms(depending on the cover) i like 15-17 lb flouorocarbon. By the way, i think you’ll be very pleased with the catalyst reels, dont forget to get the coupon for the free sexy shad kit too

I ended up buying 15lb flourocarbon for one reel, and 50lb braid for the other. It should work out well. Please tell me more about the sexy shad coupon……
