Bob and I kind of puddled around a little bit Sunday looking for a good Northern and or Bass bite and started off the day with a 22 inch Bucket Mouth,(weight calculator says it was 6.2 lbs, but my guess is right around 5lbs), and continued through around 5 hours of fishing with a bump about every 10 casts and a Bass about every 50 casts. We had to rip through the weeds a lot, but the fish hit after ripping the bait or as we crossed open pockets. Fish were caught in 2-6 feet of water, and many of them hit just before we lifted the bait out of the water. It’s only a guess but it appeared that we would draw the bass closer and closer after each bump and they just stayed there and finally inhaled it on later casts. We were using a 1/2 ounce trap so we did have to keep it moving quickly and possibly they had a hard time catching up to us in the cold water.
All fish were caught on Bill Lewis 1/2 ounce RAT-L-TRAP BLEEDING SHAD/ LIV-N-SOUND(Made in the USA). One of us occasionally tried most of the other standard spring bass presentations but I don’t think we even got a strike on them. Yes we took a picture … no it isn’t ready to post yet … … digital had moisture on lense so we won’t post the pic I until the disposables roll is full.
