Unless they’re using a low quality EVA foam, you will like the comfort of the EVA foam grips. I build many rods with EVA grips and love them. They’re lighter than cork, and they are very durable. They do not get slick when wet, and they clean up nicely.

Not sure what reasons someone gave you about not wanting to go the EVA route, but I would speak highly of them.

EVA is cheaper than quality cork so it should cut the price down a bit. EVA has historically been synonymous with cheap manufactured fresh water rods, but that is changing…I have fished EVA before and really did not notice a liability.

I think on an extended style handle (like the Bucoo)the difference would be minimal. Overall I think you should judge the purchase on the rod quality, action and feel, rather than the EVA vs Cork.

They are the same price point as the St. Croix Mojo. Testing those side by side, I felt the 6’8″ and 6’9″ Mojos were lighter and had a faster action than the 7′ ML Bucoo.

You should feel both and judge which rod fits you best for your fishing style.

Dean, at Everts, will let you take a Mojo out fishing…I don’t know if he carries Falcon.

i have a couple carrot sticks that have the foam on them, and i really like it. it actually cushons your hand alot better when fighting a fish than cork does as well. ive had the one carrot stick for 2 years now and it hasnt torn or broke down in any way, and it is one of the rods i use the most

I prefer the cork handles. I just like the feel of them better than the foam.
