I mostly fish pool 4 mainly for walleye but cannot get down there as much as I would like to. I live just a few miles from chester woods near Rochester but rarely fish there but I am going to start fishing it more for bass so I can get out on the water more. This walleye guy needs some tips as I rarely fish for bass, what is the best bait for this time of year? Jigs, crank baits, plastics, blade baits????? I have no idea where to start. I am going to head out there this morrning to try my luck, any help would be much appresheated better yet if anyone would like to hop in my boat with me sometime and point me in the right direction that would be even better yet

It has been a long time since I fished for old bucket mouth but this time of year and early spring was always my favorite times of the year. When that water temp would hit the mid 80s like it is around here I would find a shallow hump or a quick breaking shore line with veggies and toss top water plugs. Let it sit and twitch it once in a while, they cannot resist it. Pretty soon the water will explode. Good luck Steve

deep weedlines are usually pretty good if you can find them.. i would fish Texas and Carolina rigs along them

Thanks for the tips guys keep them coming.

Here is what worked for me today I tried different crank baits untill I found one that worked, after trying several different kinds a small Rapala Countdown did the trick for me not sure what size it is. I caught several large mouth bass nothing with any size but they were fun to catch. Here is a pic of the Rapala Countdown that worked for me, being a walleye guy most of my crank baits are floaters I only have three Countdowns so I am going to have to get out and get some more.
