Second cast into the slop started off are mid week therapy treatment hooked up with one nice bass. Casting a gold Johnson weed less tipped with an orange twister tail on top of the slop and then dancing it back across the top made it impossible for a few LM Bass to ignore.
I know I have said it before but I must say it again, the Johnson weed less spoons are one of the more versatile baits on the market. They can be used to fish the top or just below the slop, they can be danced through weed growth imitating a dying bait fish. According to size they can be fished from the surface or down into the depths.

After hitting some slop we tried tossing senkos into rocks and around bridge pilings. Neither of us has caught a fish pitching these worms nor really knew the technique for fishing them, we can’t say that anymore Pictured here is Mike’s first wacky style senko Bass which hit with a thud. Catching on quick we realized the importance of line watching while pitching these worms without any weight.

After the rocks the slop was are target once again, a 29inch pike and more small bass kept us entertained along with some fanatic blow ups from larger fish which seemed to be far sighted and missing the baits this evening The spoon, frogs and toads all created action for us.
It was also cool to bump into IDO’er cpetey and shoot the bull for awhile. I really appreciated his commit….”you look skinnier in real life” Mike and I always like bumping into the IDO family so if you see us out please make sure to say hey and introduce yourself

Now for the best part of the night
As we were slowing making way back to the landing and still throwing baits Mike took a pause between cast. Standing in the front, being his turn to run the trolling motor, and with his bait just inches out of the water while turning to tell me something, he dropped a Idaho potato in his shorts
The boat felt like it rammed a stump and the water blew up in the front of the boat. It was then I seen it….a gator with more room between it’s eyes than I have seen yet this year slowly swimming past me at the back of the boat. This gator was laughing his off knowing he just made my partner soil himself
Mike’s eyes were wide open and I was yelling at him “did you see that….did you see that”!! My buddy just stood there unable to respond. It was then I realized the stump like collision was Mike’s body going into a startled convulsion during the episode. We now know his ticker is in good working order

As always it was another awesome night of therapy between two great friends. The brews were great, fishing was good and, the conversation was crazy

It was nice to see someone tossing a Johnson spoon. That is a bait we traditionally use in Northern WI. I always had one tied on and tipped with a “pork rind” when I was a kid.
It was a pleasure to bump into you guys. As you could tell, Sean and I were having a good time celebrating his decision to make a career (big) change.

“When in doubt, the original Johnson spoon, not pressed out like a bottle cap but forged out of solid steel, try one today”!!

At least that’s how Homer Circle and Vigil Ward use to say it

Well it wasn’t quite like that but close. I told Bret that I’m going to have to make sure that my wallet and cell phone are in the waterproof container with my camera from now on – just in case one of these “moments” causes a tumble into the water. And it was great meeting Cpetey and Sean out there. Thanks guys for giving us a shout and introducing yourselves.

Yep, it is not the fishing but the company you keep that makes things fun

Kind of the same thing Mike and I was doing…….with a big merg going on at the company we are thinking we might have more time to be fishing while looking for a new job

How true, you and I Jeff have had this discussion before
On thing I would recommend is as soon as you take the spoon out of the package, take a file to the hook to touch up the point!

Thank you very much…….Keeping it on the light side keeps the fun into it for me
I think some of these bass dudes need to lighten up and let down there hair more often

True that Buddy Mike…..it wasn’t the size of an Idaho, more like a small red
