Going up to Brainerd area for the rest of the week to fish for bass on Whitefish Chain and the river from Lum Park north. Anyone been up there recently that can offer some advice on the current conditions and mood of the fish?

Appreciate anything that anyone can contribute!

Just got back from Crosslake. Fished walleyes fri am on cross, with no luck. So we changed things up alittle so my father in-law could catch some easy fish with live bait. Must have caught 15 bass in 45 minutes, so all was good and we could go back and have breakfast. We then hit the night bite on Upper Whitefish with slip bobbers and leeches. 1 walleye Father in-laws 2nd PB 30″ walleye, No more after that. Hit Cross on our way back nothing, but all was good back to the cabin to tell stories, nightcaps and what a great time he had on the water that weekend. So bass on leeches on Cross. Walleye fishing seemed slow but have had luck fishing those other fish when the eye’s slow down. Good Luck.

Weather and wind dictated a lot of what we ended up doing. Fish were 6-12 ft for the most part and in the what weeds there were. On tourney day we fished flats with lipless cranks and ended up with a 3rd and 5th place from our boat. Caught a few in other ways but that was the primary bait/location. Weeds were underdeveloped for the most part.
