Help with Smallies

I have recently discovered that an area lake has been stocked with smallmouths in 98 02 and 03. Being that this is the only lake i know of in my area with smallies in it my knowledge of finding them is a bit limited. So i figured id ask how some of you would approach this lake.
The lake is around 300 acres, clarity to 20ft. Max depth 25 odd feet. There are no points or dramatic drops, just a subtle bowl shape from what it looks. The DNR has supposedly implemented spawning habitat in the lake (not sure what they are, rocks, gravel, cribs??). There are two culverts flowing from the lake to marsh areas. Do not know of vegetation status or dominant bottom structure.
Where is my best spot to start? Do I hit the banks, docks, try and find hard bottoms, work weed edges? What is my best bet on a search bait? Spinnerbait, jerkbait, drag tubes?
    Any help is appreciated.

Hard bottom or rocks, half logs by the DNR, spinner baits for covering water fast, and dragging watermelon color tubes when you slow down. A few lakes I fish that are similar to what youy described can be a challenge. One day they are suspended over 25fow and the next day they are belly to the bottom. Good luck
