Got out on Saturday to a small west metro lake. I was surprised to see the water temps in the high 60’s (68+) throughout the shallows. We got out around 12 and fished for about three hours and didn’t catch a lot of fish, in fact we didn’ see many either.
My two brothers and I ended up with ~ 12 fish, the majority in the 1.5-2# range. The fish where taken on swimbaits, stickbaits and spinner baits. The larger fish came on the stick baits just casted to open spots and slowly work the bait back. The biggest fish for our boat was this nice little 21.1″. Hit like a ton of bricks and jumped a couple of times, whcih was sweet. Not a bad way to start the MN opener.

It was very nice day to ge out, caught a few rays and sun but was very suprised by the lack of activity in the shallows and overall in the numbers of fish caught. I really thought that the bucks would be going crazy.

Nice bass and it sounds like the spawn is over.
