We camped at blachkhawk lake over the weekend and managed to get up early enough to beat the crowds. I’m not a big fan of lake since it gets pounded every weekend and this weekend was no differant. Saturday and sunday there was easily 50 boats on the lake. I do like the the lake since its no wake. I’m not exactly sure how big it is but in the 500 acres range. The water was crystal clear so i knew early morning was the best bet. I was throwing a bluegill colored swimjig with a BfishN tackle motor oil gold k-tail. The weeds are really starting to come in, so i targeted back bays with the most growth. I had to make really long cast hoping not spook the fish. I caught about a dozen bass in the 14 and 15″ range. I did manage to hook into 2 really big girls in a dirty mud flat bay. The first fish hit the scale at 20″ and 5.2 lbs. The second fish came in at 20″ and right at 6 lbs. Its been years since i’ve fished there and i wasn’t disappointed. Did take my girls and 2 nieces out for a bluegill trip and they had a blast plucking a few off there beds. All the gills were cpr’d and they had a blast. It was a great weekend all around, Dan
