Bass Season! I was on the water at 3:30AM today, and I was the third boat at the access. People were ready to find some Bass. For me, it was a chance to get back to something I dearly love. I hadn’t caught a Bass with my flyrod since last October.
The water temp was 65 degrees and the weeds are starting to come up nicely. I saw quite a few fish caught with jigs, jerkbaits, and worms in 10-12 feet of water near the “greenest” of the weeds. The stuff that made it through the winter just wasn’t holding many fish. I found several quality fish along the shoreline: a 16, two 17’s, an 18, and a 20 incher (in the picture). After a long cold winter it sure was fun to see and hear old hog-jaws suck down a topwater!
