Headed out today to do some exploring and get acquainted with my new HB electronics. Have only been out on Waubesa one time and never on Mud, Monona or Mendota. Water temps were cold and fish were very lathargic in the shallows in the am, and started to wake up in the afternoon.

Best luck was on lipless cranks, causing the fish to reaction bite vs feed. Caught my only decent fish off of a rock point on Mendota. My wife was pretty dissapointed as I caught a couple here and then moved right away. She is not a big fan of being along when I am in the learning process. Catching nothing is learning as much as catching something.

    Anyone agree?

Who has the secrets for these awesome lakes?

I do, but I’m not sharing

spend some quality time behind the hummingbird, fish the stuff that looks awesome and with a little bit of luck, it just might be.

ps: the smallies on Mendota love tubes. try salt and pepper Chompers or smoke with red flake.

    nic,
I have about 20 years worth of GPS cords on that lake. Found a few things that are not on any maps

Do you have Humminbird PC loaded on you PC yet? If so, I can give you some stuff

Great lakes to fish, even with GPS spots, it is going to take some time to figure things out. Deep water lake experience will help you out, but patience is the most important thing out there.
