Fished pool 2 on saturday to no avail. Just wandering what presentations everyone likes when the water temp is below 40 deg.

Yup…Give it a jerk, pause until mid April or maybe May, then hit it again

Nice meeting you guys at the ramp yesterday. Glad to see that you survived your “drain plug incident”.

I’ve caught Smaillies in Early April on Paddle Tails fished slowly along the rip rap, but they were few and far between.

Rootski, was that you with the chocolate lab at Lilydale yesterday (Sat. afternoon). Was the park patrol giving you a hard time about the dog not being on a leash? Those guys need to focus more on the riff raff going on around the launches then about dogs.

    Hi Walleyman,

Nope, that wasn’t me. I launched out of the 494 access (I live about 2 miles from that ramp).

I’m assuming you are asking me. I was in the z-520, it’s actually black and silver we were fishing the confluenece in the later part of the afternoon. Unfortunatley we were unsuccessful despite looking good.

its tough out there… no sign of fish. I’ve only been able to locate some fish in 30-40ft holes on pool 2. Even then they don’t seem to wanna bite. Been thinking bout throwing live bait down there but I’m too lazy to make a run to the bait shop… *sigh*

I’m also too lazy to pick up some minnows. Minnows also go against my core bass fishing beliefs. I’ve thought about carolina rigging a super fluke to get them down deep.

Get in touch with Jimmy D (Steve Dezeuriks dad) and get some hair jigs- 1/8 or 1/16 oz and fish on current edges in relatively deep water.

well my case isn’t about getting my bait down there… i’ve drop shotted (gulp minnows, tubes, 4 inch worm to 6inch worms), tried regular jig/grub, bounced heavy jigs, spoons on these 30-40ft depths but still no takers… tried a reaction approach and a super slow finesse approach… nada. Might just have to stay put till the water temp moves into the 40’s…

here’s a shot of them bastids:

yeah, id say 34.9 might be a little chilly. They probably are not eating much down there. If you can do a hair jig float and fly style might get one to chomp- the hair is such a subtle action sometimes better in cold water. Also could be rough fish?? Im not good enough to read a graph to tell the diff but that is a nice pic!
