Is it ok to take powerbait and other scented/plastics and put them in the plano containers? Or do they need to stay in the ziploc packaging? I know Gulp needs to stay in the bags, but what about the rest?

You want to keep them in the bags they come in.
Some will melt when put in the plano’s.March 15, 2009 at 6:51 pm #758788how about the reverse? can you take say BFN plastics and put them in a gulp bag to install some of the scent? Or is there a better scent addition that people would recommend? I know some people swear by this stuff and never leave home with out it and others (like myself) never carry it.
any “scent evangelists” out there?flukerPosts: 242March 15, 2009 at 8:28 pm #758810I’ve taken Powerbait and put in Plano’s before (and still do on some) and have no issue with melting. However they will lose there stink much quicker. That’s the only issue I’ve had.
What interested me with this is asking about putting others plastics in the Gulp! juice. I think Koto did this with his Jackall stuff at Erie last year, and I imagine it’s something many have done. However, at the sports show yesterday, one of the Berkley guys at the tank said to NOT do this as it will ruin your plastics. They will become very stiff and the color will bleed. Any truth to this, or was this an attempt to push anglers to actually buy more Gulp rather than purchase it once and then re use the “juice” on other non Berkley baits? Don’t plan on doing this myself, but it just peaked my interest.

Fluker was right about Powerbait being box safe but you lose scent. The super stretch plastics should never be put with any other kind of plastic and should be kept in the bag.
I don’t think there is any problem with Yum, Mister Twister, Reactions Innovations, Yamamoto, Zoom, Chompers, Bass Pro, Kinami, Gander Mtn, Lake Fork, Gambler, and Cabela’s plastics going in boxes. Personally I keep most of my plastics in their own bags after the experience with Powerbait losing a lot of potency.
March 16, 2009 at 4:17 pm #759091Thanks everyone. I was attempting to downsize the amount of LUGGAGE that I bring into other people’s boats. Since I do not have one of my own,I hate feeling like I am moving in every time I go fishing.
March 16, 2009 at 6:28 pm #759144what I do is I take all of my plastic bags and put then into the rubber made show containers for storage at home and then I take a soft sided tackle box that is about the size of a medium lunchbox. link to one about the size I have http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=410727&pdesc=Flambeau_Soft_Tackle_Systems_With_Zerust_Protection_GM2300&cname=Tackle-Boxes-Bags&aID=504T2&merchID=4006&r=view
then when I am going fishing, I take along the go to baits and then add some of the ones that I want to take, then I also have the bins at home so I know when I am running out of a color. then I have my bigger bag with my plastic flat boxes adn this little bag with my plastics and I seem to fit just fine in every boat that I have fished out of. that is just my two cents, by the way, I also keep the plastics in the original plastic bags that they come in, and if I have duplicate bags, I combine them or put them into a freezer zip lock bag and store them that way in the off season. helps to not loose thier scent.
