Anyone have thoughts on what casting rod to use for buzzbaits?

i throw with at least a 7’er. with all the wind resistance they have, the length is key with me. mine is also a med. light. but it’s tough keep them out of the trees with the soft rod.

My 7’MH St Croix Avid seems to do a good job with a buzz bait.

6’6″ Minimal. I prefer a Med/Hvy. You need something with some backbone that will allow a strong hookset. A strong rod will help with a long range hookset…It will help a buzzbaits thicker hooks to penetrate the fish.

    I also prefer a 7′ rod but with a med/fast tip

I like the Shimano Crucial 6’10” MH X-Fast.

7 foot or 7+, MH backbone, moderate to moderate fast tip. No expensive rod needed, but it does make it lighter. Crankbait rods even work, as long as they have enough backbone to yank em out of the weeds. I have a Shimano Clarus I use, I like it better than the Crucial for Buzzbaits as the tip is much slower.

I use a fenwick HMG Medium 7′ to toss them, I don’t get a mile away from the boat, but I still get out there about 30 yards.
