I started like everyone else: Mono. It was decent at best.
Then switched over to mostly braid with a mono leader. Much better.
Along comes Fluorocarbon: everyone says to switch so I followed. It was good but missing something.
I go back to braid and a fluoro leader and now I have the best of both worlds.
I think that the sensibility is fantastic for both rivers and lakes.
But what works for some does not work for others
