Went up with the kid (now almost 18) this past weekend for some fishing at Roy Lake (www.roylakeresort.com)…main goal was to chase pike…but also got into some outstanding smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing…most pike were ‘sport models’ around 24-28 inches…two were a little larger…so forgive the gratuitous pike photo…but the bass shots follow…

Now, on to the bass…50-60 smallies in about 4 hours ‘cheating’ using leeches and slip bobbers…only a small handful of these smallies were under 15 inches…ONLY four were 18 inches or better
then, on last day we found some pre-spawn/staging largemouths…not the longest, but I’d heard a guy talking about catching 19 inchers that weight 6.3 pounds…now that’s some serious girth…
Over all, we boated well over 100 pike in about 12 hours total fishing time…along with 50-60 smallies and 30 or so largemouth…
Not a bad 2.5 day trip…
