FLW Outdoors announced today that the Quad Cities and the Mississippi River will host the 2009 BFL All-American out of Davenport, Iowa. Competition dates will be May 28-30.
The 108 qualifiers will be fishing for top awards of $140,000 in the boater division and $70,000 in the co-angler division. The winning boater and winning co-angler will advance to the 2009 Forrest Wood Cup.
“In terms of prestige, this is one of the biggest events that FLW Outdoors hosts,” said Joe Taylor, president and CEO of the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau. “FLW Outdoors has again selected the Quad Cities because of our world-class meeting venues, the Mississippi River, the hospitality provided by the community and the wonderful working relationship developed among FLW Outdoors, the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Quad Cities in hosting several successful events over the last 10 years.”
The Quad Cities area previously hosted the 2007 FLW Walleye League Finals, 2005 and 2004 FLW Walleye Tour Championships, 1998 Forrest Wood Cup and numerous regular-season BFL events.
The event will feature a Family Fun Zone and Outdoor Show at the RiverCenter in Davenport, with children’s rod and reel giveaways and a Ranger boat giveaway on the final day of competition.
