Hi i just went fishing for crappies and bullheads today at aligmanet in apple valley. I was fishing with a 3/16 oz yellow jig and a 1″ inch tube. All the tackle was for crappies and i made sure it was legal. About two hours in i hooked up on what i thought was a huge bullhead. It was peeling drag and then it surfaced and i noticed it was a huge bass. After 20 or so minutes i get it. He was 20 inches long with a 15.5 inch girth. I got a quick picture and let him go because i know it wasn’t in season yet. I didn’t by any means try to catch him. But by some luck i caught my personal best on a crappie set up. So i was also wondering about what weight was he?
I calculated him on bass pro and they said he was about 6.06lb but i was wondering what he was if anyone could help.

P.S. I didn’t mean to catch him and i will get a photo up soon.

You caught the fish and released it…you get to say, “Six pounds, at least!” and nobody can prove you wrong.
Personally, I’d say seven, since anybody you tell is going to automatically deduct two in their head. That way you’re covered!
    Nice fish!

    Very nice bass

Pretty much a measured 20 inch Largemouth will be 5 pounds.

    I did the In-Fish formula of L X L X L divide by 1600, doing that it is 5 on the nose.

    Congrats on your nice Bass…
