I have been saying for over a month that I was going to make a trip and go fishing. But every time something has come up, until today It almost did not happen though.
Before I left I pluged the trolling motor in to check it one more time. NOTHING The switch went out between today and last week sometime. So I had to wait until the local sporting goods shop opened and I could get a new one.

So at 9:35 I pulled out of town with a 2 hour drive ahead of me. I decided I was going to fish Spring Lake in Pekin Illinois. I got my boat in the water and get started with water temps at 46. I fishing everything that looked good and never got a bite. Finally around 4 the water temps were up to 52 and I started working the edge of a pad field. Two cast later I had my first bass of 2008 It was only 13″ but it got the skunk out of the boat. Two cast later I hung a nice fish in the pads and broke off before I could get to it About 5 min later I lost another fish before I could get her into the boat. It was 4+ pounds. But as quick as it started it died down and I was about dead too. So I headed back to the car for the long ride home. Oh yeah the fish were hitting swimjigs. I was not expecting this so I did not have a rod with the right line (that is why I broke the one off)

All in all it was a great day 55 outside and winds of 5-10mph
