I know that we dont usually talk about Oklahoma, but who cares, its fishing! I Fished Grand Lake as a non-boater this weekend. The 2 days we prefished it was windy, windy windy, with 3-4 foot rollers, they did a number on my back.
The water east of sailboat bridge had 0 visibility. And when I say 0 I mean just that. It was horrible. Drowning Creek, and Duck Creek had 6inches – 1 foot visibility, a little more the further back as you go. Everything seemed to work, Jigs, Crank baits, Jerk baits, but most people were catching fish on chartreuse spinner baits in the flooded willows. Talked to a few guys that lived on the lake and they said that they water has not been that high for 22 years.
Water temp was 50-52 in the clearer waters, and 58-62 in the muddy water.
There were a couple 20 plus pound bags pulled out of that like by the local guy, but it was a fun tournament overall. It is a great fishery and some guys caught some BIG fish.
