Power Pro Vs. Stren Super Braid??

I have seen the Power Pro vs. Fire line and I agree that the power pro is better in most cases.

I have considered trying some of the Stren Super Braid.

I like Power Pro, but the bleaching of the color, and some of the fraying can suck.

Has anyone used the Stren Super Braid and how do you think it compares?

Spiderwire stealth? I think strens version is super braid or something like that.

I am not aware of a stren stealth?? However I have used Spider Wire Stealth and Stren Super Braid…

I like spider wire stealth on trolling rods. It is the best I have found as far as a trolling line goes.

On spinning rods used to cast jigs or fish blades I do not care for the stealth. It did not perform as well for me as any of the other superline choices.

Stren Superbraid on the other hand is now my superline of choice. The high vis gold is my favorite high vis color hands down. It is very bright. Also it does not fade like the other superlines do. It is very strong and has good abrasion resistance to rocks or zebra muscles.

For me super braid is the best superline I have found.

The Stren Super braid is very good stuff. It is not widly popular in these parts as Berkly is king, but get in some areas down south and it is a 180 degree switch. I personally prefer the Stealth and usually run it for 3 years before I replace it on trolling set ups for walleye and salmon and on my flipping and slop rods for bass.

    Hi Guys –

I’m new to the site but thought I might be able to add something to this post from my experience.

I have always been a Super Braid fan but because so many people post opinions about how great Power Pro is I decided to try some last year. The experiment lasted about a month before I had to rip the Power Pro off my reel.

I found that it was much stiffer, cut into itself on the spool more, and lost its color much faster than the Super Braid.

Of course, a lot depends upon what you are used to also so that might be a factor in me not liking Power Pro so much.

Thanks Curmudgeon – I use Stren Super Braid on both baitcasters and spinning reels when the situation calls for it. Never had a problem with it except once in a while I’ll get a loop over the rod tip because it is so limber. They can be a beast to get out too.

Me too, actually think they are pretty comparable. I can usually buy Power Pro cheaper though.
