Went out fishing bass on Sunday on pool 5a. Found the small smallies were starting to pick up a little. Most my action came from a jointed shadrap Perch color for me. Topwater plugs picked up the rest of them. Not much going on for us in the back waters. Picked up a dozen smallies on the main channel on wingdams where water would be leaving for a backwater channel. The smell of the water in the backwaters was terrible. There has been a bunch of pollution washed in there and the water wasn\’t clear in the sloughs yet. The main channel was starting to clear on the top half of 5a. I am not sure of the name of the slough, but it is connected to schnieder\’s lake and sandy hook. Anyway, there were about 50-100 big trees that have been washed into that slough. They run all the way from sandy hook to minnesota city and are spread throughout the back channel. For those of you who have ever run that channel…you won\’t believe it until you see it. Haven\’t bass fished much at all, but I gotta say it wasn\’t that bad… You might see a post on here soon asking for help setting up a bass tackle box…
Good luck fishing…Ted
