I used to use a 3/0 hook but now I am using a 5/0 for all texas rig, like the wider gap in the hook, also helps for them short bitting fish, gets the hook down a tad further. but weed edges are usually going pretty good this time of year, don’t forget to use spinner baits along the edges of pads, alot of fish are not under the pads, but resting on the edges. I try to locate pads that are not every far from deeper water, seems to be better qaulity fish there. another good thing to try this time of year, toss a mepps spinner, sometimes I have had good luck with htem as well as cranks -1 or -4, run it just across the top of the mil foil canapy. you could also pick up drop shotting, but there, you would want to go with lighter spinning gear for that application. another good lure that you can’t beat around dock with a hard rocky bottom is a jig-n-pig, either a black/blue or a camo (tans and pumpkin) color jig with a like color trailer. but if all else fails, go to a 7″ worm, your choice of color and start working some of the deeper weed lines, if they start to bit the end, but not where the hook is, shorten up the worm from a 7″ to a 5″. you just got to get out there and fish, any one of these lures on any given day can produce big fish and multiple fish.
