    All the time and everywhere.

Seriously. I use swimjigs all year. Sometimes are more productive than others. Spring and fall are probably the best times, summer when the weeds and pads are in good shape.

    Grubs, Action plastics for me.

Depths. Inches of water to 10 feet or sometimes deeper. Most of the time shallow water around weeds, rocks, and wood.

Here is a link to Brovarney’s site and there is some great infomation there along with the different jigs and grub trailers!

I use them about 85% of the time right now! I have been catching bass from about 24-29 FOW. I like to use a Pro Tour Bait Crazy Chunk 2.75″ in a black w/ blue fleck color. I have had a lot of luck throwing them during the post spawn this previous spring as well!!

I have zero confidance in them. Ive tried them many times were I know fish are located and have yet to catch anything. I then switch to a tube or plastic worm and pullem out. I dont know what im doing wrong. Ive slowly realed, twitched, hopped and burned them. I gave up on them.

Wow that is deep!! Are you letting it fall for a few second then bring it back to the boat slow??

I normally let the bait fall all the way to the bottom and bring it back up like texas rigging. But on every other bounce, i bring it up and shake it. I fish this slow depending on the day. But recently, the weather has been so hot that i am fishing deeper and slower.

What do you tip them with?

Ok it looks like ive been using the wrong size. Get the 1/4 ounce ones. They seem to be the tickett.

You can tip them with whatever you want as long as it doesn’t negatively effect the action of the jig. Lately I’ve had success tipping with a 5″ sassy shad. Earlier in the summer a horny toad was working. Most of the time, a 5″ K-grub works great.

What size were you using? I agree, 1/4 is my favorite as well.

Ice out-mid July: Action plastics blue/green fleck 5″ grub
Mid july-ice up: action plastics florida sand 5″ grub

the blue/green fleck grub seems to work well on most any dark/sunfish colored swim jig. These colors are literally all I buy anymore, except for some other swim jig trailers that I use from time to time that I won’t name for now the florida sand is a perfect shad imitator and works great about mid July sometimes earlier, sometimes later, when the shad start to become present and abundant in the river. remember to rig the grub with the tail facing down, and put the hook through the seam of the grub. This will make it run more true and increase the number of good bites that you will get
