You have one day on the water. You get to choose one rod and reel and one bait. The goal is to catch the heaviest 5 Bass you can.

What do you choose and why?

I choose a 7″ Berkley Power Worm in pumpkinseed color Texas Rigged with a 1/4oz weight. This color produces for me on the river year in and year out, spring through fall.

After having done so well with Sliderfisn on Mille Lacs I would have to choose a 4″ Mizmo tube in Ouachita Special on a 7 foot Medium Light spinning rod. It’s hard not to stay with a very good thing…..

A 5-inch Yum Dinger in Green Pumpkin/Chart. Tail, Texas rigged with a 1/8 oz weight. I can fish it in just about any type of cover and if there’s fish there, they’ll generally bite it eventually.

Well….Chartreuse spinnerbait with a white Mr. Twister trailer, single spin with a 3.5 inch long willow leaf blade attached with a ball bearing swivel. 15 or 20 pound Power Pro, Garcia 5500C3, 7 foot medium heavy fast action rod.

I know, I know worms work better….but I have a lot of confidence in that presentation and I can fish it many different ways.

    Rootski,
Confidence is an anglers biggest asset! I agree.

My choice for river smallies up here would be a Large Pop-R on a 6’6″ St. Croix medium action with a ex-fast action tip on a Shimano 1500 series spinning reel. This presentation does day in and day show and catch big smallies up here.

Tough call if you are talking a bait for all seasons.

I guess I would go with a Sweet Beaver, 1/4 oz weight, Color not too important, but across all seasons I would probably pick a black color like Penetration or Hematoma.

Senko would be a close 2nd, but sucks for high winds.

I would choose a 7 ft med hvy Falcon Cara with Shimano Curado and use a 3/16 oz jig (color depending on water and day Color) with Strike Kings new Rage Tail Chunk. Day in and day out that chunk gets it done. Super slow or fast retrieve, the action is unbelievable and drives fish crazy. Beats the Paca hands down.
