There are plenty of jerks in the world from all walks of life. Sometimes a guy just needs to gripe a little to settle himself–nothing wrong with that.

Just be sure to devote a little time discussing the majority of anglers on the water who are decent and kind folks.

My son and I were on Pool 8 Sunday and we were fishing a community hole for blue gills within 30 yards of another boat with an IL registration and three anglers in it. They had the “spot on the spot” and were reeling in fish after fish and we were catching a few but still having a good time. They see me with my little guy and pulled up anchor and insisted that we move up to their spot. I told them we were fine and that they should keep fishing. They wouldn’t hear of it and I finally moved to their spot to make them happy (and my son!). The move was a good one and we put a lot of fish in the boat. I was happy for my son to catch fish but even happier for him to experience such great sportsmanship on the water.

There are so many more people as you describe than as I described in this world. The only reason this subject was brought up to begin with was the look of sheer disgust that this “person” gave us as they pulled away. It was as if we “owed” him that fishing spot. I will say again, I know that most tourney guys are not like this and I was not pointing a finger at “all” bass guys as some would say. My son is old enough to be disgusted with what he saw that morning and I hope your son and my grandchildren, when they can fish with me, don’t have to see such behavior. If anyone considers a rant, then so be it.
