Mid summer bass

I have a smaller lake near my house that only gets to about 11.5 feet at the max. I can catch plenty of big fish in the spring and fall but I just can’t seem to get these nicer fish in the summer. One more problem I have is the weeds there is so much thick cover I get snagged with weedles rigs and I have not had much luck with topwater baits at all. What should I do

    Thanks, Kruger

If you have thick weed cover, I would try the topwater either late in the day or early mornings. Stick to those baits they will produce fish. Scum Frogs or a Hard Nose frogs will produce fish in those weed pockets.

I just made a post about bass!!!!

Rig up a 1.5oz texas rig bait and punch through those mats down to the bottom. Then jig it up and down just like a yo-yo.

Is there any open water? I would look for brush or rock piles out off shore. Your lake sound similar to what we have down here. Once it heats up the better quality bass seem to find off shore structure or cover and hang out there all summer.

Instead of using the previously mentioned T-rig, I would throw a heavy weighted dropshot with a tube or small creature bait near any underwater structure. With the thick weeds you can probably sit right on top of those fish and have no problem sticking them.
